January 10, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1/10/25 - ECAC Esports is excited to announce a new partnership with the Collegiate Karting League (CKL), becoming the twenty-third game title offered in the Spring 2025 season.

Starting in Spring 2025, ECAC members will gain access to competitions hosted by the Collegiate Karting League, marking a new era of excellence for the collegiate karting scene. Both organizations will maintain independence, with membership in one organization not required to compete in the other.

The CKL offers a 7-week competition on Sunday evenings, featuring skill-based divisions ensuring the highest quality competition possible.

"We couldn't be more excited to bring the Collegiate Karting League into the ECAC family," said Johnson Scoggins, Commissioner of Esports at ECAC. "Mario Kart has always been one of those games that brings people together, and seeing it grow into such a competitive and spirited league has been amazing. This partnership is about giving students more ways to connect, compete, and have fun, and I can't wait to see how far it goes!"

"I have always had a passion for Mario Kart, and have had the honor of leading one of the oldest collegiate teams," said Otto "Fchy" Ellison, League Director of the CKL. "For this to go from just two schools to where it is now is such an amazing growth to have witnessed, and I can't wait to see how the partnership with ECAC continues this growth."

"This partnership is like a dream come true," said Alec "Tedbear" Aguila, Media Director of the CKL. "Competitive Mario Kart has been a massive part of my life for quite some time. Being able to work with such a prestigious organization like the ECAC represents a new page for CKL where we can not only fully grow to our potential, but also introduce more schools to the wonderful world of competitive Mario Kart."

About the Collegiate Karting League

Collegiate Karting League is the biggest tournament series for competitive college Mario Kart across North America run by students for students. Meant to provide colleges with a competitive environment to compete with students from other colleges, teams are divided into skill-based divisions and compete with the teams in their division to make playoffs and win the ultimate prize of being their division's champion. The league also hosts fun side tournaments which any college student can join independently without the need of a team at their college. Collegiate Karting League Started out in 2022 with just 2 schools in University of Arizona & Moravian University, and has since expanded to have over 50 college-based teams across the United States & Canada, with many more to join soon.
